DEMO: BLAME IT ON THE WINE is a blues song about an unfortunate fellow standing before a judge who is about to sentence him. When asked for an explanation or any final words before sentencing…this is what he had to say. My vocals are flat but my songs are phat!
BLAME IT ON THE WINE
WORDS AND MUSIC BY FRANKLIN COLLETTA 2022
I was drunk as hell
And I ask forgiveness from the court
For this crime
Don’t make me serve no time
Even though I did it
Blame it on the wine
Started off with some Carlo
After quitting time
Should have stopped right there, judge
I was feeling fine
Then I walked downtown
With a friend of mine
Drank some Cabernet and some Pinot Noir
Some other kinds of red wine…
Spent all of my money
Couldn’t raise a dime
You know how it is, judge
When your drinking wine
Trying to explain
Why I crossed the line
The liquor store was closed
But right in the window was this nice Merlot…
I was drunk as hell
And I ask forgiveness from the court
For this crime
Don’t want to serve no time
Even though I did it
Blame it on the wine
